Feedback is an important design tool

Gathering feedback from people who may use your product is the only way to confirm that what you are designing is the right product.  This is especially true in the case of business to business software products. If your product is meant for a broader market, designing it without inputs from potential customers and adopters may not work.

You may use your background, your domain expertise, your understanding of trends and the competitive differentiators to come up with your hypothesis. But once you expose your product to a potential user or customer you may find out that your hypothesis is wrong and the customer does not see value in what you are building. Since you need the buy-in of your users and customers, soliciting and incorporating feedback from the first day of your product design and development process, is essential to the success of your product.
